The Yellow Rose

This yellow rose is three dimensional!  I learned the technique at a guild workshop. The leaves, petals and rose buds are all dimensional and really make the flowers look life like!

All of the fabrics used are Bali hand dyes.  I outline quilted around the basket and flowers to make them really pop out at you!

Approx. 17" x 17"

Stained Poinsettia

This little project was a demo at my local guild's November meeting.  They showed several different methods of stained glass.  I used fusible bias tape on this one.  I really liked the technique and hope to make more projects using the stained glass technique.

Approx. 8" x 8"

Stained Poinsettia II

No, its not the same little quilt as the one before it...I just liked the bias tape technique so much that made another one.  They look just a tad different.  I will be hanging these between the decorative shelf braces of my two plant shelves.

Approx. 8" x 8"

Michelle's Cafe

This is a small wall hanging that I made for a Secret Santa gift for work.  I was Michelle's Secret Santa and she loves coffee, so I made her a cafe sign!

Bits of Pink

This wall hanging was a top I bought at a silent auction.  I quilted diamonds in each cornerstone, and a design in the blocks and sashing strips.  All the quilting was done in pink so it shows up on the black sashing nicely.

Approx. 28" x 28"

Thinking Happy Thoughts of You!

This quilt was made for the Whistle Stop Quilt Shop's Shoebox challenge.  Each challenge participant chose a fabric and then recieved a FQ of all 10 fabrics in a shoebox and we could use any other farbics we wanted.  We had to make a quilt that was based off a greeting card (like the Shoebox line, get it?)

I used the snippets technique to make my little lion.    I quilted the top half of the quilt in a cloud design and then outline quilted around the snippets.  I used a peachy white metallic thread to do the quilting.

This is the label of the quilt and then I attached a card holder with velcro so that the card could be displayed with the quilt at the same time.  On the back of the card I put swatches of the challenge fabrics.

This quilt won Honorable Mention at the 2007 North Florida Fair.

Approx. 15" x 21"

Strawberry Stars

I used the Moda High Tea line of fabrics, most of them had strawberries on them or in the strawberry colors.  This was a mystery top that was done at a retreat.

Approx. 22" x 22"

Finished 1/04.

Zinnias For Mom

This was another 3D flower basket that was started at a guild workshop.  I hand appliquéd all the flowers, leaves and stems on this basket. Al the fabrics are Bali hand dyes and they match the rose basket I made earlier.

I added little gold beads in the center of the zinnias, they added the perfect touch.  I named this, Zinnias for Mom, because my mom really likes to plant zinnias in the garden and just loves all the different colors and varieties.  I don't really like zinnias, but I really love this quilt...so maybe the flowers will grow on me!

This won Honorable Mention in Wallhangings at the 2005 North Florida Fair.

Approx. 17" x 17"

Bill, the Lion!

I made this little wall hanging for a very nice person's birthday.  He is the president of the Lions club in our town, so the lion just seemed right.  I stippled around the lion and it makes the lion pop right out at you!

Approx. 12" x 12"

Finished 2/04.

Stars All Shook Up!

This is a charity quilt for my quilt guild.  I came up with the pattern and created step by step directions for the members.  It's an easy, no mistake type pattern, so we hope to have lots of quilts to pass out to various charities!

Approx. 40" x 49"

Beware...Haunted House

Well, yes, this started out as a Halloween project, but it took me til March to figure how I wanted to quilt it.  I bought glow bug thread, which glows in the dark.  I then decided to quilt a big spider web over the whole top.  It is a cool effect when the lights are out!

Approx. 36" x 45"

Finished 3/04.

Baby On the Way...

This top actually did get completed, but I forgot to take a final picture before it went to the baby shower.

This top was for my cousin's baby born in April.

Batter Up!

I made two little wall hangings for my brother's Babe Ruth baseball coach and his wife.  They are fabulous people and so sweet.  I made Coach Bennett the bat and ball and Miss Carla was given the scorebook since she kept score for all their games.

These two little drawings are what two little wall hangings looked like.  I didn't get to take a picture of them before I gave them away.

Each are approx. 8" x 8"

A Country Girl's High Heels

This quilt was made from Cowboy Boot swap blocks.  The background was a Moda Marble cream and I used saddle and leather colored Moda Marbles for the sashing and border.

I used the font Giddy Up to create the outline for the letters and then I hand painted the title of the quilt on the borders.

This quilt won First Place Bed Quilts and Best in Show
at the 2007 North Florida Fair.

Each are approx. 83" x 85"
